Reuters cited the company as announcing the news at a results presentation today.
In March 2008 Centrica said the Bains project to store up to 20 billion cubic feet of gas under the Irish Sea could be ready for winter 2011/2012.
In September 2008, the owner of British Gas said the 7.5 Bcf Caythorpe site could be operational by the winter of 2011/2012.
The company's 60 Bcf Baird project, which Centrica said last February should begin commercial operations in 2013, and is still expected to open for winter 2013/2014.
The UK needs to build more gas storage to help cope with peak winter demand days as its own North Sea gas output declines but new projects are often held up in the UK's planning system.
